Field trips are a central component of geography and earth sciences programs. They allow students to apply theoretical concepts directly in the field and to investigate geographical and earth scientific questions on site.
Students in the bachelor's degree subject in geography and the bachelor's degree program in earth sciences complete the field trip module once during their studies. The requirements vary depending on the degree program:
 

- Geography BA (Field Trip: Introduction to Applied Geography, 2 CP): 6 field trip days
- Earth Sciences BSc (Field Trip: Introduction to Applied Earth Sciences, 3 CP): 9 field trip days

The difference in the number of credit points stems from the higher number of field trip days in the bachelor's degree program in earth sciences.

- Geography MA (Field Trip: Advanced Applied Geography, 1 CP): 3 field trip days
- Earth sciences MSc (Field Trip: In-Depth Study of Applied Geosciences 1 credit point): 3 field trip days

The Extended Field Trip offers master’s students the opportunity to engage intensively with questions from the earth sciences during a field excursion lasting several days. The focus is on the practical application of methods, interdisciplinary work, and understanding geological and geomorphological processes in the field.

The "Current Topics in Geoscience " lecture series covers current research questions and developments in the earth sciences. The topics vary from semester to semester and provide insights into various subject areas as well as ongoing research projects.

Various intensive courses are offered during the intersession. These courses allow for an in-depth exploration of selected subjects and combine theoretical content with practical courses, lab work, or fieldwork.
