As an early-career researcher with a non-linear academic profile, research excites me! I hold a diverse scholarship background, beginning with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Anthropology from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, followed by an Honours degree in GIS and Remote Sensing. I later pursued a Master’s in Engineering, specializing in Sustainable Town and Regional Planning, and also completed a program in Natural Resources Management at Beijing Normal University. Most recently, I earned my PhD in Environmental Science, with my research focusing on ecosystem services and human well-being indicators within the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area.

This multidisciplinary foundation has given me the unique opportunity to approach science from a multifaceted perspective, harnessing the strengths of each discipline to inform holistic decision-making and effective problem-solving for real-world challenges affecting both society and the environment.

Looking ahead, my research interests lie in biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, and policy development — particularly within the context of protected areas such as Kruger National Park. I am especially interested in methods that combine ground-based studies for understanding vegetation allometry, UAV platforms for tracking species dynamics, and satellite data for monitoring and assessing land cover change, all aimed at contextual sustainability and development that benefits vulnerable communities.

As a proud Swiss Government Excellence Scholar, I seek to attribute land cover change to both climate and land-use dynamics, bridging the gap between ecological science and practical policy frameworks for sustainable landscape management.

Outside the world of research, I’m a passionate Formula 1 enthusiast. I’m firmly in Team LH44, and wherever Lewis Hamilton goes, you can be sure I’m right there, cheering him on — speed, precision, and strategy, both on the track and in the field!
