I am an environmental scientist with a background in Biological and Geological Sciences (BSc) and Environmental Sciences (MSc), driven by a fascination for how dryland landscapes evolve under pressure from erosion, land use, and climate variability. My research investigates spatial and temporal patterns of carbon dynamics, soil erosion and land degradation, particularly in southern Africa landscapes. I like to reconstruct the past environmental changes using soil and sediment archives often in combination with historical aerial image analysis. To assess or monitor recent changes, I also use satellite- or UAV-based remote sensing techniques.

When I am not teaching GIS, supervising (Phd) students, or studying drylands you will likely find me chasing a disc on the ultimate frisbee field.
